GS is the abbreviation for German "Geprüfte Sicherheit" (security certified), which is a voluntary certification mark based on German law. Although GS is a German certification, it is recognized by most countries in Europe, and a well regarded safety certification mark in relation to the CE mark in European market. Products with the GS-Mark have greater-than-average competitiveness in the market. The GS-Mark enhances customer confidence and desire to buy. Not only does it represent product safety and functionality, it also represents stable quality which is guaranteed through regular factory audit.
Testing and certification for GS-Mark application must be performed by an independent third party Laboratory (such as Eurofins Product Testing). This process includes a comprehensive security testing on test samples, checking on the whole production of the products and making sure they comply with relevant requirements. When the GS-Mark is issued, the certification body has the responsibility to perform an annual factory inspection on in the manufacturer.
Eurofins Product Testing Service (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is a ZLS accredited Testing laboratory authorized in awarding the GS-Mark in accordance with the Product Safety Act (ProdSG). Eurofins Product Testing Service GmbH (Eurofins Lab in Germany) is both a ZLS accredited Testing laboratory and a Certification Body authorized in awarding the GS-Mark in accordance with the Product Safety Act (ProdSG).
